Newport's
Harbor is a yachtsman's delight with its plethora of marinas,
moorings, restaurants and amenities for mariners. However, it is
also a working harbor illustrated here by Jim Gibson's stunning
images of fishermen at work in extremely harsh conditions. The
Newport fishing fleet operates out of N. Parascondolo & Sons
at Perry Mill Wharf, Aquidneck Lobster Company at Bowen's Wharf,
and the State Fishing Pier at the north end of the harbor adjacent
to Newport Shipyard. Both the City of Newport and the State of
Rhode Island and Providence Plantations are committed to keeping
Newport's magnificent harbor a working environment for the fleets.
